Do you own Dirndl or Lederhosen?
On Saturday, May 9th, 2015, from 10am – 5pm they are planning a day of food, cultural dance, cultural dress, and a great showcase of the things to come at this years European Festival. So bring friends and family, admission to watch the performances will be FREE, and a teeming plate of Polish and Hungarian favorites will cost a mere $10.
The event will be hosted at the “Hungarian Cultural Society Of Greater Vancouver”, located at 728 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC.
In the evening, once the all-ages crowd and families have gone home for the night, there will be a “Euro Dance Club” from 9pm – 2am, which will have a cover charge of $10, and which features 4 live DJ’s!
Food and Venue are being arranged by the Hungarian and Polish community. As the major component to this day is cultural dance, they urge any cultural dance ensembles who are interested in dancing during the event, to book a time slot by sending an email or making a phone call to Marysia Filipowski (email@example.com or 604.525.9160) detailing your desired show time, and the length of your program. The sooner we get your response, the more likely you are to get your desired show time; so don’t wait, act now!
You are encouraged to wear traditional dress, as it is always an attention getter, and a great opportunity to create awareness for the European Festivall on May 30 & 31, while enjoying a day of fun, friends, and great food! They are also organizing a Photo Booth that will allow anyone who wishes, to try on traditional dress and get their photos taken. Prints are produced nearly instantaneously, so people can take a part of the day home with them! This is a great opportunity for us all to work on our dance routines, and to create more awareness for the Big Show at the end of May, and celebrate our diverse heritage! So, come one, come all, help make this a day to remember, and enjoy “A taste of the old country”!
Kecia Boecking and Elke Porter are representing Germany and would love to see some more Germans out there, especially those that would wear something German: Dirndl, Lederhosen, Trikot (German Soccer Shirt), Black, Red & Gold clothing etc. If not, you are still most welcome to volunteer at the European Festival at the German Cultural Table. At 5 pm, there will be a “Beer and Bratwurst” Event at the Beer Tent, where we will be thanking our German Volunteers!
