Here is my story about a forest fire that our family witnessed while camping at Harrison Lake on August 12th, 2013.
It was Monday afternoon, around 4:30 when we walked from our campsite to the main street by Harrison Lake. The German Restaurant was our main destination. Since it was open at 5 pm, we decided to go for a short walk before dinner.
Just then we noticed the fire that was burning on the East side of Harrison Lake. It didn’t take long for a helicopter to show up. The helicopter landed in a parking lot, and after waiting a few minutes, flew into the air with a yellow bucket attached.
Unfortunately this bucket leaked.
The next bucket worked better, and it was the first time that I saw them scoop water out of the lake with a bucket.
After a few helicopter flybys, we saw a jet plane show up that repeatedly dropped red fire retardent. It looked just amazing.
After that, we had a delicious schnitzel at the Black Forest Restaurant.
It wasn’t much of a story, but definitely an exciting one!
