Edelweiss Growers is unique. Germans in Vancouver and across Canada will be intrigued by the fact that this business is operating in BC since 1987 and is supplying the world with Edelweiss. Half of our business is in the US, one third in Europe and the rest anywhere else. Go ahead and share anything you like I am sure all Edelweiss lovers will thank you for it
I would just like to say a big “Thank You” and “Danke Schön” to all my advertisers for the latest issue of “Das Schwarze Brett – Christmas Edition”. It can be found here:
I promised them all a mention in a blog post and here they are.
First of all, I would like to thank my first two advertisers, which are Hannelore Nolte with Nolte Log Homes Ltd. and Beatrice Schreiber with the Bel Art Gallery Inc.
Bel Art Gallery Inc. would like to welcome you to the World of Fine Arts. Available for you is an excellent collection of originals, limited edition prints and sculptures from fine local and internationally acclaimed artists.

Sometimes people contact me out of the blue. One of them is Erwin Baumgartner from Switzerland who loves to travel to BC & Alberta and George Hartmetz from Kelowna who is looking for a companion who knows how to cook.
Finally, last, but not least, if you have ever wanted to move to Kelowna and you love to cook, here is your chance for a fresh start in a beautiful city in BC. George is looking for someone to live in and who will spend time as a companion.
The Whitecaps were not advertisers, but they did let me interview their new goalkeeper Stefan Marinovic who played in Germany for a number of years and was originally from New Zealand. Read all about him in “Das Schwarze Brett”, found on www.magcloud.com (type Das Schwarze Brett” into the search bar).
Ordering “Das Schwarze Brett” for Christmas
Visit the www.magcloud.com page
Sign up. Yes, I am sorry, but you are going to have to sign up with them in order to download or order magazines. They have many to choose from.
Find “Das Schwarze Brett” under the name PorterPR. PorterPR is a name that I used while getting involved in magazine publishing
Once you have the magazine, download a free digital (.pdf) copy to read at home, or order a printed version, which also includes paying for shipping costs.
Receive magazine, read and enjoy. Ask yourself – Do I know anyone who would like to have this kind of publicity? Do I know anyone who would like to advertise their product or service? Is there an upcoming German, Swiss or Austrian event?
Briefly note the date of the next publication.
You can also sign up to “follow” PorterPR on MagCloud, which will ensure you get personally contacted, once the next magazine is published there.

The only German-speaker I could find is Simon Barth.
About Simon Barth
Simon Barth, who lives and works as a Designer in Vienna today, has been impressed by Haute Couture and gorgeous embroideries since his early childhood. But the big news is that I discovered Simon was born and raised in Munich! He also lived in Berlin, but found it “too trashy”. He is happy in Vienna.
His new collection “Dark Seduction 2016” is a elegant and mysterious trip on a sparkling garden full of obsession and fantasy.
According to his own website, though, it says: Simon Barth präsentiert heuer auf der Vancouver Fashion Week seine Kollektion „Glimmering Transparency“.
So, whether it is dark seduction or glimmering transparency, at least we know he speaks German. LOL
His Vienna (Wien) website can be found here: http://www.simon-barth-couture.com
Location will be:
Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver
50 East Pender Street
Their blog can be found here: http://vanfashionweek.com/blogpage/
This year, Germany was one of 28 countries involved in the EuroFest 2015, held May 30th and 31st. On our right, we were next to Portugal and on our left, Switzerland. Our table featured “The Little Black Book of Beer”, an antique globe for children to find Germany on and occasionally the Porsche, Tim, Tam & Tom were on display to delight our visitors. A few feet away, the table with “Free German Books” was also a highlight with many people coming back to pick up even more German books.
For those of you who don’t want the party to end, I would encourage you to get a ticket to the 40th Saengerfest to be held June 5th – next Friday. Many of the “who’s who” in the German Community will be there. To network, listen to traditional music and to enjoy being together. Book tickets here: Horst Zimmermann email: click here or Rudy Milz email: click here
Germany also had 5 volunteers participate in the flag ceremony. Mr. Wolfgang Christl – aka Mr. Oktoberfest, (not shown here) Consul B. Dierkes- Leifeld, Beatrice Schreiber with the German Canadian Business Association, Anika, daughter of volunteer & German Table organizer Kecia, along with Sophia, daughter of Westcoast German News owner, Elke.
The German Canadian Business Association also planned a “Beer & Bratwurst” event for its members on Saturday in the beer garden at 5 pm. Saturday was simply a glorious day! Although there are a few people who couldn’t make it due to travels or other commitments, we had an enjoyable time together.
