Can you Help Find Hildegard Gale?

This is a message sent to “Germans in Vancouver” by Tomas Nehls,

Vielleicht können Sie mir bei der Suche nach meiner Tante helfen. Ihr Name war Hildegard Gale geb. Samek, geb. 03.02.1917 in Berlin, und sie ist nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg mit einem Kanadier nach Vancouver ausgewandert. Die letzte mir bekannte Adresse ist 565 East 53rd. Avenue in Vancouver. Soweit ich weiss, hat sie mit Ihrem Mann ein Taxiunternehmen gegründet, ob erfolgreich oder nicht, ist mir leider nicht mehr bekannt. Da meine Eltern schon vor längerer Zeit verstorben sind, bin ich sehr daran interessiert, mehr über mine Tante zu erfahren und vielleicht Nachkommen von Ihr zu erreichen. #

What is the European Festival?

Date:  Saturday and Sunday May 27th and 28th, 2017
Time:  11 am Saturday to Midnight
Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm
Cost:  $8.00* Early Ticket for the entire weeken!; Children under the age of 12 are free.
$10 at the Gate

Volunteers for “Team Germany” needed!

We need people to do a 3-hour volunteer shift, to cheer for Germany in the flag parade at 2 pm, to be there at 6:30 pm on Saturday, when the Alpenplattler perform on behalf of Germany and of course, to enjoy typisch Bratwurst and Beer.

If you have any last-minute German items you would like to see on the table, please let us know – maps, books, costumes, Christmas decorations and other typical German products
