Friedrich G. PETER was born in East Germany and studied design and fine art at the Academy of Visual Arts in Berlin, Germany. He paints, designed postage stamps, typefaces, coins and murals, illustrated books and taught for forty years at The Vancouver School of Art, UBC, and The Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, (now Emily Carr University). His typeface designs, such as Vivaldi and Magnificat, and calligraphy made him known internationally. Living in North Vancouver, BC, he continues to exhibit his diverse work. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy and is listed in ‘Canadian Who’s Who’, and ‘Who’s Who in American Art’.
