Vancouver, June 14, 2022 – This event is for Metro Vancouver-based startups, emerging innovators, venture capital investors, policy makers, and mobility leaders. Motivate VANCOUVER powered by CoMotion and supported by Invest Vancouver, shines a global spotlight on the Metro Vancouver region’s most dynamic early-stage companies in the rapidly-evolving emerging mobility and clean transportation space.

This event will start June 29, 2022 at 9 am with a brief welcome and then some Opening Remarks will be brought to you by the Honourable Ravi Kahlon, BC Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation.
CoMotion Fast Forward will then present: “Vancouver: Emerging Mobility Dynamo”, a live presentation of CoMotion’s signature podcast focuses on Vancouver as an ideal ecosystem to catalyze major breakthroughs in next-gen mobility: a dynamic mix of established and emerging industries in transportation and clean technology, some of the world’s leading research universities, and a diverse and highly-skilled workforce.

At 9:40 am Round 1 Startup Pitches will include the 3 companies: 7Gen, which helps fleet managers transitioning their vehicles to zero emissions, CAPSolar, leader in solar powered floating and submersible water pumps, low energy winter watering systems, grid-tie and off-grid systems, and solar LED area, sign lighting. and LyteHorse, a stand-up electric ATV (all-terrain vehicle) suitable for designed for the hunter and outdoor sportsman.
After a short networking break, there will be a Fireside Chat with Prescott Watson and Olaf Sakkers, General Partners of RedBlue Capital in conversation with John Rossant, CEO, CoMotion and also founder and Chairman of the NewCities Foundation, a major global non-profit institution dedicated to improving the quality of life and work in cities.
At 10:55 am, the panel: “Innovation and Investment in Mobility: What’s Next?” will be held. to discuss he mobility sector, that has been without doubt one of the most dynamic areas for venture investment over the past half-decade, from massive IPO’s like Rivian, Uber and Didi Chuxing to the boom (and recent bust) of mobility SPACS. Disruption in the mobility space is only accelerating, even as investors are spooked by soaring inflation, tighter money and geopolitical uncertainties. So where is the smart money headed now?

There will be a another riveting Fireside Chat and then the Round 2 Startup Pitches will be held by another three companies. Mazmobi is a Mexican tech company that develops a shared mobility solution based on a model of collaboration with vehicle dealers to increase the time the vehicles are being used. Then A&K Robotics, who design and build helpful robots and want to change the world through automation. Finally SensoDrive, an IOT platform that connects underutilized amenities in buildings (currently parking and EV charging) to users via a smartphone app.

After lunch, there will be an Industry Chat: The Investment and Venture Case for Renewable Hydrogen – Renewable ‘green’ hydrogen is an essential tool in the pursuit of a net-zero future – and the world seems finally ready to bet big on the industry. Global investments in hydrogen have skyrocketed since 2019 and last year’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill in the United States allocates $8 billion dollars for regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs. Where should this influx in funding be focused to quickly and effectively scale up the infrastructure needed to produce, transport and use clean hydrogen? What opportunities for partnerships exist to expand the networks of refueling stations? How are companies innovating to efficiently achieve hydrogen fleet transitions?

After another Fireside Chat, Round 3 Startup Pitches will be held. Moment Energy, which provides clean, affordable, and reliable energy storage by repurposing retired electric vehicle batteries. Veemo, a revolutionary, semi-enclosed, pedal-electric vehicle, as part of a journey towards providing sustainable, accessible and affordable mobility solutions. Finally Breeze Traffic, which helps cities measure and reduce carbon emissions from traffic without installing new sensors.

After a short networking break, there will be another Industry Chat: “The Rising Tide of Blue Tech and Marine Transportation Innovation”
Marine vessels are historically some of the dirtiest fuel emitters — and transition to cleaner fuels in maritime transportation has lagged behind the progress being made to decarbonize land and air mobility. But the race to transform maritime transportation is now on. From hydrogen powered cargo ships and marina vessels to electric seagliders, the incoming wave of blue technology is embracing the need for energy efficiency through improved hydrodynamic design, the use of lightweight materials, and electric and hydrogen fuel cell technologies. How can these breakthroughs in maritime transportation provide communities with competitive alternatives to today’s regional transportation modes?

A second Industry Chat will be held at 4:10 pm: “Advanced Air Mobility Prepares for Takeoff”
Players big and small in Advanced Air Mobility are forming strategic partnerships to unlock new markets and take the next steps toward commercial operations. SPACs have allowed leading AAM companies like Joby, Eve, and Surf Air to go public in recent months, but what can be done to further attract investment into the commercialization of AAM technology? And how are companies planning to bring commercially available and sustainable air mobility options to existing and emerging communities and markets?

Round 4 Startup Pitches will start at 5 pm. Meep, help Transit Authorities and Transit & Micro-mobility companies to increase passengers with their #MaaS platform in Madrid. The Commutifi platform has received the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label as one of the world’s 1,000 solutions best suited to address economic and environmental challenges. And last, but not least Zygg.an e-bike you can rent for personal use or as a delivery driver for a simple monthly fee right here in Vancouver. Anything to get regular fossil-fuel reliant cars off the road.
