Westcoast German News will be opening a shop with German sayings on them. You order them and pay on the website, or send an e-transfer payment to admin@westcoastgermannews.com and they will be shipped to your home. These shirts are more expensive than what you find in the shopping mall, but they can only be purchased here. These are also “printed on demand”, so there is no stock in the “head office” here.
The sayings or “Sprüche” will be things like “Abwarten und Tee Trinken”, “Was du heute kannst besorgen, dass verschiebe nicht auf morgen” and “Besser ein Ende mit Schrecken, als ein Schrecken ohne Ende” and other things. These are unique, one-of-a-kind sayings that you can most likely only find here.
Of course, we will gladly take suggestions and will put up prototypes for people to see. What is your favourite saying that your Oma used to repeat all the time? What is something you would like to see on a shirt? What is something you would love to send home to relatives in Germany?
Shirts with sayings could be:
- Anfangen ist leicht, beharren eine Kunst.
- Arbeit, Müßigkeit und Ruh, schließt dem Arzt die Türe zu
- Auch der Tüchtige braucht Glück.
- Auch Wasser wird zum edlen Tropfen, mischt man es mit Malz und Hopfen
- Den Menschen gehts wie de Leut
- Der Klügere gibt nach
- Des einen Leid ist des anderen Freud.
- Ehrlich währt am längsten
- Es gibt nichts Gutes außer man tut es
- Höflichkeit ist eine Zier-doch weiter kommste ohne ihr
The shirts can come in a variety of sizes and colours, so that can make a difference in whether you would purchase it or not.
